What Makes Death Different
Perhaps there lies in death
A reason to make death differ,
Oh you, that silent, fading corpse
Shall I recite my last farewells while guided by some ruthless guards?
Or by beautiful madness, to mystic shores I will be led?
Is it a lonely dream of mine that I so hopelessly embrace?
Or am I escaping from me to death,
From haunting nightmares, I try to break,
Or from a darkness with no end?
There lies in death a reason to make it differ
Death passes by, in silent pace
No wondering sighs, no flower in pain or sorrow bends
Or… death comes by, with painful songs:
Lingering memories haunt the land
The world is overwhelmed with tears
Declaring all creation sad
Yet as the dying fades away,
The wind reveals a wondering sigh.
We have been killed & continue to die,
It matters not how, where or why
If a hideous fiend put out our light
Or a charming vision or handsome knight
What makes death different? Do tell me:
Do tell, my silent, murdered friend
