أنتَ أوغلتَ في الرمادْ
أم توغّلـتَ في
الشررْ ؟
قلتَ للموتِ : لا تذرْ
عشبةً , واقمعِ المطرْ
والعصافيرَ ,
والعبادْ ..
هل أساءَ لكَ الشجر ؟
هل أساءتْ لكَ
البلادْ ؟

Did the trees do you harm?
You made the fire rage
& roar Or turned your
glory into dust?
You cried oh death,
do not forsake
A branch alive,
suppress & take
The birds, the living & the rain
Did trees injure your
raving pride!
Were you insulted
by this land?
